Plein Air - North End of Lake Sacajawea

North End of Lake Sacajawea - oil on panel - 9 x 12

A small painting done en plein air on Sunday, Feb. 16. It was a cold and sunny day and Allan and I wanted to practice our plein air painting. We're somewhat rusty from not having painted all winter. But the weather has just been too wet.

We hope to start painting more soon !

We sat on small benches at the Japanese Gardens at Lake Sacajawea in Longview near where we live, and this was what we saw. It's the island near the north end of Lake Sacajawea, and the reflections in the water that day.

I used a palette knife for this painting, because I got frustrated with the brush. The paint is really thick and it will take a while to dry. But I am happy with it, for my first plein air painting in a while!

Allan has a new blog called A. Wise Art Journey. Take a look and you will see the watercolor painting he did that day !

Sunflower #2 - Daily Oil Painting

55th in series - Sunflower #2

5 x 7 original oil on panel

Here is another Sunflower painting I did in September, as practice for a larger sunflower painting, which was intended to prepare me for an even larger painting of sunflowers. The inspiration came from the magnificent sunflower garden I grew last summer. I hope to have one next summer too!

Enjoy!

Purchase price: $65 plus $7 for shipping in the U.S.

Sunflower #1 - Daily Oil Painting

54th in series - Sunflower #1

5 x 7 original oil on panel
I've been lax in posting my daily painting progress--probably due to many changes in my life. But here is one I did in September, as practice for a larger sunflower painting, which was intended to prepare me for an even larger painting of sunflowers. The inspiration came from the magnificent sunflower garden I grew last summer. I hope to have one next summer too!
Enjoy!
