I sketched this scene on my lunch hour. People who know me will recognize it. Cars and trucks rumbled by on the bridge above and a cargo vessel sailed by. It was a sunny, fall day; long gone but still alive in my painting.

Under the Dock
5 x 7 original oil painting done in one day.
Japanese Haiku
There under the dock
Shadows of lapping water
echo in the dark
Can you imagine what it looks like under the dock of a marine terminal? I can. It's very dark and mysterious. There's also lots of spiders. I was lucky enough to climb around under these docks several years ago, before Homeland Security imposed all the security restrictions on ports. Now no one can get there.

Poppies
Of course I couldn't resist getting out the watercolors and we all sat down to paint. After all, the grandkids can't come over to Granmarie's house without doing some art! Funny, in the time it took me to make paint one, they made three! We painted on watercolor paper I cut into 2.5 x 3.5 inch pieces - ACEO - I discovered these on ebay (Art Cards Editions Originals). People collect these small paintings just like baseball cards. We had lots of fun. Who knows, we may have two new budding artists!
